Vector Lab X (2017)

oil enamel and oil on canvas

80x68 inches (203x172 cm)

$28,000 USD

Vargas-Suarez Universal’s “Vector Lab X” is a quintessential work revealing the processes of drawing and painting inspired by science. Strong energy emanates from the painting and is remarkably felt. Not surprising, since it was inspired by a visit to a Spallation Neutron Source, Tennessee based Laboratory* where neutron blasts are constantly experimented with. V-SU made the painting in studio and in parallel to the lab experiments by working under similar time intervals, that is, drawing his vector compositions every 90 seconds, in sync with the voyage of the neutrons in the lightness and darkness of the pathways containing them. According to the artist, “the paintings, the pigments, the brush and the canvas become the collider, the particles and the collision itself.” The empirical approach is the basis for a contemporary abstraction in paint, of balance, harmonious geometry and transparency : a dance of visual vibrations.

Vargas-Suarez Universal exhibits internationally in galleries and institutions. His works are present in notable collections such as The Museum of Modern Art Library, Whitney Museum of American Art, El Museo del Barrio, Queens;; Jersey City Museum, NJ; Palazzo delle Papesse Centro Arte Contemporanea, Siena, Italy; Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno (CAAM), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain; DA2 (Domus Artium, 2002) Salamanca, Spain; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (MUSAC), León, Spain, Winzavod Contemporary Art Centre, Moscow, Russian Federation, and the UBS Art Collection.
