Giles Lyon

Red Gloaming, 2012

Acrylic on paper

30 x 22 inches

2012 was a precarious year for many with the uncertainty of a fulfilled prophecy that would change the world for the better or for the worse.  It was in that year that Giles Lyon created “Red Gloaming,” as part of series of intimate, introspective, dreamy “psychoscapes,” which were unreal images that contained all the devils and demons in an omnipresent stance veering upon the viewer, as if laughing. His cave like, visionary art doesn’t clue into a new epoch, nor feed any direction specifically, however pinnacles the essence of an animated ‘other’ dimension and offers a journey into a colorful world of spirits or dreams.

Giles Lyon’s works have been exhibited coast to coast in the United States and in various venues throughout Europe in over 20 exhibitions. His works are featured in international publications and are present in collections such as : Museum of Fine Art Houston, Houston, TX; Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, TN, The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, Los Angeles, CA, The West Collection, Oaks, PA  and at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Victoria, BC
